Abstract

Islam and nationality are two important terms that are often confronted since the days of independence until today. These two terms indicate the existence of two groups' interests, namely the Islamic Group and the Nationalist Group in fighting for the influence of filling this independence. Since the independence era, the relationship between these two groups is like the relationship of a pair of people who sometimes come close to each other, sometimes move away from each other, and sometimes even hostile to each other and face each other and try to dominate each other. The ups and downs of the relationship between the two groups in filling up the independence that has happened until now Certainly be unproductive for nation building. Because all this nation needs is unity, cooperation and hard work from all elements of the nation, especially the Islamic and Nationalist groups.
